International standard ISO 15750
In April 2002, the International Organization for Standardization published the international standard ISO15750 for steel drums.
Part 1: Open steel drum

Performance test international standard ISO 16104
In May 2003, the International Organization for Standardization issued the ISO16104 standard for performance test methods.
The steel drum performance test items are suitable for leakage test, drop test, stacking test, air pressure test and hydraulic test. These performance tests are the key quality requirements for ensuring the transportation of steel drums in dangerous goods.
In recent years, the steel drum manufacturing industry has been continuously improving in the structure of the seal, the packing, the production process and the structural design.
The drum closure is a complete part attached to the steel drum, and our Tri-Sure as a sealer manufacturer will provide high quality products and services to the barrel industry in strict accordance with the standard requirements.
Closure performance test required by international standards:
Recently, because of the improvement of the G2 screw plug, the Dutch inspection authority conducted the following tests on the steel drum:
・Drop test, the closure is at 8 o'clock

After a comprehensive test, all steel drums were tested by the Dutch authorities and marked with UN standards.
In-plant pilot projects for closures include:
- Torque seal test [washer with a maximum torque of 2.5 Bar]
- Washer wear test [speed, torque]
- Screw lock performance [coil lock before and after thread measurement]
- Cover leak test [2.0 Bar pressure and vacuum]
VII. Tri-Sure nylon screw plug
Safety is especially important when steel drums are used to package flammable liquids.
When a fire occurs, the pressure inside the barrel increases due to the increase in heat, and an explosion event is likely to occur at this time. Tri-Sure nylon plugs can be punched out of the coil under high pressure and melt at high temperatures, thus avoiding accidents. Nylon screw plugs in the United States must be tested by the NFPA30 hazard test standard. The cover can also be made of plastic material, adding a layer of safety protection barrier.
8. Screwing in and unscrewing of steel screw plugs (R-type G2 screw plug)
More and more steel drum makers and fillers are using automated production lines for screwing in and unscrewing. However, it is not easy to adapt the loading and unloading of the steel barrel to the rapid production line, and it is generally difficult to accurately screw in and out. Meeting the requirements of a fast production line is tricky for the producer of the closure. To this end, we have developed a new R-type screw plug that allows it to achieve optimum results during the production process.
First we have to explain two issues to the consumer... squeeze in and squeeze out.
"What is squeezing in?"
Steel drum fillers often see this squeezing phenomenon. In the specific case, the standard screw plug will squeeze the washer into the thread of the coil when screwed into the coil, sometimes because the washer is in a twisted state on the screw plug.
In this case, the thread being turned can cause damage to the gasket. The potential hazard is that the broken gasket can contaminate the contents of the barrel or cause the automatic production line to stop production.
"What is extrusion?"
Steel drum makers and fillers often encounter this phenomenon. In certain cases, the coil washer will be squeezed out of the screw plug and the coil when the screw plug is about to end.
This situation increases the risk of leakage of the steel drum and the difficulty in installing the safety cover, and may cause the production line to be interrupted.
"What has been improved?"
Now, with the use of Tri-Sure steel coils, these problems will be a thing of the past.
The washer seat of the plug has a flange. We designed to change the angle of the flange to make it smaller so that the washer does not easily squeeze out of the plug. We recommend using standard torque to tighten the plug.
For the same reason, we have designed a small annular "retaining ring" between the gasket flange and the thread of the screw plug.
This retaining ring is parallel to the plug flange and allows the washer to remain in place when the plug is not tightened to avoid the risk of the washer being forced into the coil.
