The International Waste Utilization Agency announced the use of waste paper by countries in North America and Europe in the first quarter of this year:

In the first quarter of the year, despite the increase in shipping costs and the shortage of containers to the Asian region, the volume of waste paper increased due to the increase in domestic demand for waste paper and the increase in orders from countries in Europe and Asia. The poor economic situation in the UK has resulted in a reduction in the recycling of waste paper. At present, there are few stocks in the hands of paper companies and waste paper companies. The decline in domestic waste paper prices has caused many waste paper companies to shift their supply to higher-priced export markets.

Among the waste paper varieties, the demand for all kinds of variegated wood pulp waste paper is extremely high. Many users of domestic paper companies have increased the purchase price, but they are still lower than the export price.

Mechanical pulp used for deinking pulp has become a focus of attention because newsprint companies such as domestic and Belgian companies have increased their demand for goods. At the same time, the price trend of all wood pulp white waste paper saw a rise, which also reflects the rising trend of bleached wood pulp prices.

In the first quarter of this year, the price trend of the domestic waste paper market was fluctuating, with rising freight rates, war in Iraq, shortage of containers, and unfavorable climate all affecting the market price of waste paper.

Low-grade varieties: In the first quarter, OCC prices fell to US$20 per ton for the week before the end of March, before rising by US$30 per ton. However, due to the shortage of goods, as long as its demand can remain stable, it will still increase its price. The holiday around the end of the year usually results in a reduction of this waste paper source. In addition, the poor weather makes it more difficult to collect, and the weather improves after mid-March so that recovery can be resumed and sources of supply increased.

The waste newspapers and newspapers are not as volatile as the former. Although the supply is reduced, the recycling and consumption are still balanced, and their prices are also stable.

The price of used mixed papers rose in the first quarter, but fell to the end of March. SWL used paint books and scrap office papers were stable during this period. Prices of some varieties will go down in April, but overall, the price trend of waste paper used for deinking will remain balanced.

Last month, the paper industry in Germany stated that it was at least temporarily abandoning the use of low-grade waste paper. It is estimated that its domestic price will be lower than the export price. In March, due to the recovery of demand for high-grade recycled waste paper, the price situation has improved. The improvement in demand is partly due to the current unstable global market situation, which causes users to compete for hoarding.

The growth of the economic situation in Germany is not as good as the same period of last year. In the first quarter of this year, the supply of waste paper slightly increased. Although its demand was slightly slow, it was basically satisfactory. The increase in the demand for waste paper in the countries of the Far East made the export of waste paper in the European region healthy and normal, but there was no major change in prices. The demand for waste paper in February was very good. On the one hand, the supply of waste paper was stable. On the other hand, domestic and export orders were normal. The export prices of waste corrugated cardboard boxes, used mixed paper, and waste printing paper used for deinked pulp shipments to Far East countries are relatively high.

The consumption of various waste paper by Finnish paper companies is normal, but the outlook for waste paper collection is uncertain. Therefore, the trend of the waste paper market in the latter part of this year is difficult to predict.

In Finland, the consumption of paper last year was 1.067 million tons, an increase of 1%, while the waste paper collection volume was also increased by 1%, which was 765,000 tons, but its utilization rate has dropped. At present, the waste paper stocks of buyers and sellers can still meet the demand. If the demand increases, it must be imported. Most of the waste papers exported are high-grade products and waste papers that are not commonly used in China.

The problems encountered by the waste paper industry in Finland this spring are mainly the supply of waste paper, and the uncertain trend of global waste paper will also affect its consumption of waste paper.

The situation of the domestic waste paper market in Czech Republic is relatively quiet, which is normal in winter. In addition to the demand for waste paper from deinking pulp and the relatively high price, the price of other varieties is relatively low.

In terms of waste paper collection, municipalities in various localities have formulated packing regulations to increase the amount of recycled waste paper. The export market is in satisfactory condition. Although it is predicted that there will not be any major problems during the next few months, its prospects are uncertain because of the volatile international situation.

In the first quarter of this year, the output of the domestic papermaking industry increased, but the supply of waste paper was short, and users in various countries in the Asian region fought high prices for various waste papers, which caused pressure on the waste paper market. The French waste paper companies were worried about their domestic consumption. Can a large customer withstand the rise in waste paper prices?

Before 2003, the OCC price in France was the lowest in Europe. Later, after its price increased by 15-20 euros per ton, it was only in line with the price prevailing in the German market. Despite the eager demand for low-grade waste paper, various paper-making companies have not been able to make substantial infills, and the shortage of recycling has led to a shortage of supplies.

In the first two months of this year, the amount of waste paper recovered from deinked pulp was relatively normal and the price was stable. However, with the increase in the production volume of deinked pulp, there is a gap in the use of waste paper for raw materials, and the supply cannot be connected, so it is estimated that the price will increase in the near future. Due to the increase in the number of countries exporting to Asia, the domestic demand for mid-range waste paper has become more eager. From January to February this year, the price trend has been quite stable, but it will be under pressure in March. Due to rising pulp prices and increased demand, the French waste paper company expects that all types of waste paper may rise in the second quarter, especially various white waste paper.

In Italy in February and March this year, the low-grade waste paper market showed a very stable trend. Due to the increase in the number of exports to China and Turkey, the prices of waste paper are steadily rising. By the end of the first quarter, although the number of exports to Vietnam and Indonesia increased, the number of visits to China decreased slightly. In February, the prices of medium and high-grade waste paper increased by about 10%, and some types of waste paper prices even rose by 15%. Most of the US waste paper on the market followed the increase in pulp prices, such as the UCC in the United States. The price rose by 15%. It is worth noting that the trend of waste paper prices has a direct relationship with its export volume. What needs to be worried about the waste paper industry is that many paper companies have experienced difficulties in the market and cannot afford the increase in product costs.

The paper stocks of the low-grade waste papers of the Dutch paper companies are very small, and the waste paper companies are virtually no longer available. Although the sales of the paper companies' products are more difficult, the demand for waste paper is quite stable. Export demand for high-grade waste paper is increasing, while sales in Europe are also stable, and prices are steadily rising. At the same time, the demand for pulp for waste paper production is quite normal. It attracts many users and its price rises faster than the average price of various high-grade waste paper.

Due to the impact of the Iraq war on freight rates and even economic trends, it is difficult to comment on the market conditions of waste paper.

Due to the poor sales of dark paper and waste newspapers and newspapers in Spain, all paper companies have suffered from sparse orders and there are a large number of finished products in the warehouse. But at the same time, the amount of waste paper recovered also fell by nearly 10%.

As for mid-range waste paper, waste paper companies have almost no goods in hand, and paper companies are trying to find the goods! The current market listing price remains stable, but it is estimated that prices will increase next month. It is reported that a large number of high-priced recycled waste paper is flowing into Spain from countries such as France and Germany.

In the waste paper used for deinking pulp, due to the reduction in the number of collected papers, and the fact that waste paper companies have very little inventories in the hands, the price of newspapers and periodicals in waste newspapers has increased slightly. Newsprint companies in Central European countries have greatly increased their demand for waste newspapers, used magazines, and periodicals. It is estimated that the prices of such waste papers will rise in April. In February of this year, despite the small amount of recycling, its prices remained stable.

Other types of waste paper, such as various variegated pamphlets and variegated variegated papers, have less demand, and their sales are difficult. High-grade waste paper supplies are less and demand is plentiful. The price of white trimmings is bullish, and there are not many sources of waste paper companies in the hands.

In the first quarter of this year, Turkey had a relatively stable period in its paper and cardboard industry, but it will depend on the situation in Iraq in the coming months. The war affected the Turkish economy, causing domestic demand to fall. Imports of waste paper fell while its exports increased. Its foreign exchange rate remained normal, but the total production costs of Turkish factories rose due to rising oil prices. In the first quarter, the domestic and export prices of waste paper in Turkey fell compared with the same period of last year. The waste paper utilization rate showed a negative growth due to the drop in demand. The paper companies have a small amount of waste paper stock, but there is a backlog of finished product inventory.

The old newspapers used in Turkey are from Greece, and the OCC is limited to a single Italian supply.

According to the latest news, the prices of waste paper in Europe generally rose in March, but in the UK, the prices of deinked pulp and bulk products are mostly stable. The prices of waste paper and waste paper from German supermarkets rose from 60-65 euros per ton to 72-77 euros per ton in March, and the prices of deinked pulp and waste paper used for pulp replacement are both rising. The shortage of waste paper supplies is the main reason for the increase in prices. Due to the lack of recycling channels, suppliers were unable to meet the paper company's order requirements in March, and their inventory dropped sharply. Some waste paper companies even forecast that their prices will increase sharply in April. However, many paper companies believe that the lower prices of various cardboard and printing paper produced from recycled pulp will affect the rise in waste paper prices in the coming months.
