The key technology in achieving high-fidelity printing is the Hi-Fi Color printing method that adds RGB inks to CMYK inks. The two methods of high-precision screening and FM screening are as far as possible to refine the dots to the degree invisible to the eyes, so that the details of the picture can be reproduced.

For CMYK4 color printing, plate-making inks have an imperfect spectral characteristic, resulting in turbidity of secondary colors (RGB). Instead of replacing it with a vivid RGB ink to achieve color reproduction that is closer to the original color, this printing method is called Hi-Fi Color Printing.

When the two-color inks are overprinted, the color separation characteristics of the inks of the respective colors contain undesirable noises, resulting in a decrease in the secondary color saturation, which is the limit for subtractive mixing obtained by the CMYK ink. Therefore, the replacement of secondary colors with highly saturated color inks is the biggest innovation in high-fidelity printing.

High-fidelity printing is characterized by helping to expand the overall color space of the print, which has an effect on any color picture. In addition, the increase in the number of color inks, due to the narrowing of the spectral width held by the ink, even if the printing density of other CMY inks varies, it will not directly affect the overall color balance and Gray balance. Therefore, the secondary and tertiary colors are stable during the printing process.

In the case of spot colors, the number of colors required for the corresponding number of color inks, and high-fidelity printing conditions, at most only add black ink, there are seven colors can do all the color reproduction. In addition, if the color document does not contain all the colors, the number of colors can be reduced to 5 colors or 6 colors, and the reproducibility of the desired color can be further improved by changing the saturation and hue of the RGB ink.

The advantages of the above high-fidelity printing methods are summarized as follows:

1. Increase the saturation of the secondary colors (R, G, B) (unlimited colors).

2. The secondary and tertiary colors remain stable during the printing process.

3. Do only select RGB inks that are valid for the drawing.

4. Use the picture to select the saturation and hue of the RGB ink.

In order to achieve high-fidelity printing, the following technologies are available.

1. Multi color separation (multi color separation)

2. GCR (gray component replacement)

3. FM screening

4. High-fidelity printing with color proofing

5. Automatic adjustment of ink volume

6. Automatic printing registration

The above-listed technologies can improve the effect of multi-color lithography, so as to obtain stable and high-quality prints.
