Hexagonal roller test of packages

Hexagonal roller test is used to evaluate the adaptability of repeated impacts and impacts of package during the circulation process and the protection ability of the package to the contents. It places the test sample in a hexagonal drum and is subjected to a series of random rotations on the inner surface of the rotating hexagonal drum. Depending on the guides and baffles, the package can be dropped on different faces, edges or corners to form a pair of packages. Different collision hazards, the order and status of the fall are unpredictable.

The working principle of the hexagonal cylinder tester used in this test is shown in Figure 7-2. The cylinder of the drum is supported on the roller, which drives the drum to rotate. The simplified inner surface is a regular hexagon. Therefore, the hexagonal drum is called, and its diagonal dimensions are 4260mm and 2130mm. It is required on all sides of the regular hexagon. There are guide plates, baffles, and protective plates fixed in different structures, and some also have cones.

(1) Requirements for test equipment


1 The internal surface of the hexagonal drum and its obstacles, generally composed of hardwood or metal, are not allowed to have obvious damage or deformation in the test.


2 The inner surface of the drum is required to be smooth. It needs to be painted and waxed. The smoothness of the drum should pass the inspection and meet the qualification requirements.


(3) A counter for counting the number of revolutions shall be provided on the drum, and the number of revolutions of the predetermined set may be worked, and a certain bottom surface of the hexahedron in the cylinder may be in parallel with the horizontal plane when it is stopped.


4 On the end face of the roller, there are six numbers 1-VI in a counterclockwise direction, which represent the six faces of the cylinder, to clearly identify the starting face of the test.


(2) Test procedure


1 Number and mark the test sample, and pre-treat it according to relevant standards.

Rolling test rolling test of packages

It is used to evaluate the impact strength of the package when it is subjected to rolling impact and the protection of the package against the contents. During the test, the test sample is placed on the impact surface and the test sample is rolled so that each side is subjected to impact in sequence. The test equipment is a horizontal plane.

(1) Requirements for test equipment


1 The impact surface should be a whole piece, with large mass and good rigidity, and the mass should be at least 50 times the mass of the test sample.


2 The area of ​​the impact surface should be sufficient to ensure that the test sample completely falls on the impact surface during the test.


3 Place 10kg static load on any l00mm2 area on the impact surface. The deformation cannot exceed 0.1mm.


4 The impact surface should be flat, and the height difference at any two points on the impact surface should not exceed 2mm.


(2) Test procedure

Before the test, the temperature and humidity of the test sample must be pre-treated and marked on each side. See Figure 7-1.


1 Determine the sequence of impacted surfaces. In general, the following order of marking surfaces is used: 4, 1, 2, 3, 6, 1, 5, and 3.

2 Determine the number of scrolls. The test sample is cycled one time in the above order, and the required number of scrolls is generally determined as needed.


3 Slowly tilt the test sample so that the gravity line passes through the edge, causing it to lose its balance naturally and subjecting it to a shocked surface.


4 Each impacted surface is subjected to an impact in the order specified, and the test sample is tested for the number of times of rolling.


5 Check the damage of the packaging and contents according to the relevant standards and analyze the test results. Determine the number of scrolls needed as needed. (to be continued)
