At present, there are many types of sewing machines used in printing plants in China, which are classified into original, semi-automatic, and fully-automated types according to their degree of automation and page-laying methods.

The SX-01 machine is the first generation of sewing machine produced in China. The page-laying method is to put the signatures on the bookshelf by hand. It is labor-intensive, inefficient and insecure.

BSX-01 and BSX-02 are semi-automatic sewing machines. The BSX-01 type machine has added a message link chain on the right side of the bookshelf. During the operation, the manual posts will be placed on the transmission link, and the signature will be automatically sent to the book shelf. The operation is more convenient. The BSX-02 type machine is an improved type of BSX-01. The main feature is that it can be used with the page-laying machine, and semi-automatic is fully automatic. In addition, the speed range of the machine has also increased.

ZSX-02 type machine is an automatic sewing machine, which can automatically complete page-laying, lock-threading, counting, cutting lines, etc. If common faults such as missing posts, broken wires, and wrong posts occur, they can automatically stop. It also indicates the cause and location of the shutdown.

The SXZ-440 machine is the latest sewing machine produced in China. The staple process uses the latest technology in microcomputer control. Table 4-3 shows the model and main technical specifications of the sewing machine.

Third, the sewing line quality requirements

According to the national industry standard CY/T28-99, the lock line should meet the following quality requirements:

1. Needle pitch and needle number requirements. The needle position should be evenly distributed on the last fold line of the signature, and the needle pitch and needle number should meet the requirements of Table 4-4.

2. The requirements of the lock line.

(1) The signatures after the lock line are arranged correctly, neatly, without damage, page drop, and dirty oil.

(2) Pinholes are smooth and there are no broken letters.

(3) The elasticity of the lock line is appropriate, and the thickness of the lock is basically the same, and the clothes are neat and tidy. No large volume placards and pages, shrinking ≤ 2.5mm.
No needles, knuckles, breaks and coils.

(4) The book block after the lock line is not broken loop lining.

3. Use wire gauges and staples.

(1) Use wire specifications. 42 or 60 4 or 6-ply white wax tower lines, or the same size nylon thread.

(2) Stitch form. Booklet with 40g/m2 below the four fold signature, 41-60g/m2, or a considerable thickness of the signature can be used fork lock. In addition to all use flat locks.

Fourth, affect the lock line fastness factor

The fastness of the binding is determined by the type of thread used for the sewing thread, the strength of the paper, the number of pages in the signature, the breaking strength and relative elongation of the thread, the type and width of the backing material, and the like.

Paper strength. Under other conditions being equal, the greater the breaking strength of the paper, the better the fastness of the book block. If the last fold of the signature is along the fiber direction of the paper, then the paper should have higher breaking strength in the transverse direction. Because when you use a book, the force on the book block is in the vertical direction of the spine.

The number of pages in the signature. The force required to pull out two pages from a book is actually not related to the number of pages in the book that contains the book block. If you tear a book off of a book block, the more pages there are, The more force is needed. The strength of the line. In order to prolong the service life of the book and ensure the integrity of the sewing thread, the strength of the thread used when sewing the thread should exceed the breaking strength of the paper. When the string is pulled, the relative elongation of the thread is longer, and the paper is broken near the sewing thread. The possibility is small, the higher the fastness of the sewing thread.

Contacts. The greater the number of stitches, the higher the fastness of the stitches, and the length of the stitches does not have much effect on the fastness of the stitches, because when the length of the stitches increases, the number of stitches on the signatures does not change. . To pull a page from a short pin booklet that is locked with a nylon thread, it is more powerful than pulling the page out of two adjacent signatures that are staggered with long pins. Since the fastness of sewing is mainly determined by the number of stitches, the most stitches with the smallest number of stitches should be used when sewing. A layer of gauze is attached to the back of the book to ensure that the gauze is better adhered to the back of the book block. The force separating the book block and the book case depends on the fastness and size of the backing material, and the length and width of the backing material. The larger the size, the better the connection between the book block and the book case.
