What I tested this time was the lightweight version of MONTRAIL Torre GTX: Traverse GTX. This pair of shoes has a unique nylon mesh surface throughout the body of the shoe, so it is not accepted by Chinese lovers of superstitious leather uppers. It is also difficult to find in the market and I rely on MONTRAIL. The company provided test samples to the Greenfield equipment test team, and it had close contact with it. First look at its manufacturer's technical parameters:

The Traverse GTX is fully qualified as a lightweight version of the Torre GTX: it replaces the 2.2mm waterproof sliding surface of the Torre GTX's upper body with a 2.2mm nylon, which is waterproof and slip-on. At the same time, it replaces the "Superlight" PU midsole with Micccroporous Rubber. Porous breathable midsole; Torre GTX uses the Vibram®Explorer outsole, Traverse GTX uses the Vibram® Talon outsole (this has little effect on weight). Let's look at their final credit in reducing weight:

Traverse GTX shoes weight:

Torre GTX shoes weight

What strange place to see? That is, men's shoes have been reduced by 110 grams, and women's shoes have been reduced by 90 grams. Why is there such a difference? Is the size of the shoe problem? A very interesting question. Didn't think of the right answer? However, by the weight ratio, such a weight loss situation is just right.

The official reviews of the pair of shoes begin with the difference between the Torre GTX and the Torre GTX. There are several points: Traverse GTX's GTX label is stitched with cloth labels, while the Torre GTX is a bronze label. Save a little weight, but this setting is obviously not a lightweight consideration, but due to the strength of the nylon mesh surface, so can not put the copper label, so that it can only be played out. Looking at the seams, the seams on all nylon uppers are double twisted. In fact, they are still worried about the strength of the nylon mesh surface. Therefore, a double twisted thread is used for reinforcement. Nylon mesh really can reduce the weight, but in the fabric strength, waterproof performance, heat preservation ability is obviously not as good as the leather material, then its advantages, the relative breathability is better, more convenient to maintain. There is also a difference in the color of the shoelace, but the color of the Traverse GTX shoelace is more impatient. Traverse GTX's shoe soles are specially designed to raise the height of the head and protect the toes. But in appearance, there are indeed too many Torre GTX shadows on this pair of shoes, I have to mention: the nylon strap in the heel, the setting of seven pairs of shoelaces (top four and bottom three), shoelace buckle first For the MONTRAIL copper mark between the perforations, exactly the same anti-collision header (if you only see the photo of the head of the shoe from directly above, you will certainly think it is Torre GTX).

I mentioned at the beginning of the article that because Chinese people are influenced by the European all-leather hiking shoes, they have been worshipping leather since the Chinese tradition. Therefore, it is indeed unwelcome to use outdoor shoes with a large area of nylon mesh especially hiking shoes. Even the aesthetic concept has been affected. It was me and I didn't like the look of the Traverse GTX. I just felt that the nylon mesh was unsightly. And you think again, spent more than 1,000 pieces of shoes to buy double hiking shoes, was also said to buy double shoes, what do you think, huh, huh.

About the Traverse GTX, it should specifically talk about its soles, its outsole and midsole are not the same as the Torre GTX, the focus is not the same, look at the comparison photos:

The outsole is not the same, so the pattern of the outsole is not the same. The Torre GTX uses the Vibram®Explorer with deep shading and a unique automatic mud-scraping feature that gives excellent grip performance; the Traverse GTX Vibram® Talon is large The bottom is good terrain adaptability and good adhesion. In fact, there is a slight difference in positioning. The midsole is different, but both emphasize breathability and cushioning. However, the application of ultra light soles always makes people feel uneasy, fearing that there are no roots under the feet, although half-palm steel sheets have already been injected into the soles. Since you want to lose weight, why not inject a PVC sheet? Of course not, because the first is to ensure the strength, there is no guarantee of use, nothing else.

This pair of shoes is a great highlight is the work is very good, regardless of MONTRAIL's suppression LOGO or seams or the casting of the soles, are quite quite outstanding, commendable.

The field test situation: First, put on shoes feel that its shoe last is selected wider, is suitable for Asian foot type; Second, because it is nylon upper, so the ductility of the fabric is quite good, also Very convenient for the foot to run in, you do not have to worry about the problem of grinding feet, congratulations; Third, the nylon mesh surface anti-water repellent performance is much better than I thought, almost drip does not stick, but I wear cross-country The experience of running shoes and outdoor clothing tells me that this thing is a temporary thing. It is best to use special care solution for treatment. Of course, the leather surface also has this problem, but the nylon surface is easier to absorb water, and it is more easily damaged after absorbing water. There is no problem with the soles, but it is acceptable to deal with all kinds of terrain, but the cross-cut is easy to slip; Fifth, because the upper is nylon, it is soft, the protection of the ankle is not enough, the foot support is not enough, weight and cross-cutting have personal experience Sixth, the MONTRAIL Bracelet through which the shoelace crosses often rolls over itself, affecting the appearance, but the problem is the same on the Torre GTX; 7. Once the shoelace is borrowed, it may Shoelace buckle has disengaged from the inside out, dirty and even broken shoelace.

in conclusion:

Applicable people: don't dare to break secular prejudices, do not superstition to worship leather, believe in lightweight, low-intensity activities of the donkey

Applicable environment: The all-round sole can let it deal with all kinds of mountain conditions, but the problem of nylon upper makes it not suitable for use in winter at first and is not suitable for use in a multi-water environment, and it is still not good in cross-cutting routes and heavy load conditions. use. So it is recommended for usual mountain trekking, especially for summer activities (guarante you don't get bored).

The exact same bumper head (if you only look at the photo of the head of the shoe from the top, you will think it is the Torre GTX) is a lightweight version of the Torre GTX, Vibram Talon soles, high hardness and most durable, plus steel to make The sole is more sturdy, and the shoe sole design can automatically clean the dirt. "Superlight" PU midsole can reduce weight, high-bar design anti-sprain, GORE-TEX waterproof, special hard crash toe. 2.2mm waterproof sliding leather wallet nylon.
